Jumping into a cold pool

There is an idea that if you try to slowly ease into a cold pool, you will never go in but that if you just jump in after the initial shock you will love it. Your dad is jumping into a cold pool this week getting to be in the classroom on his very first day on the job. But you know your dad, he can do anything and will do anything for you and I.
